Hands healing hands; thank you Valentina Corni, our hand surgeon

The Jamkhed surgery project is a trust chain: Valentina Corni and myself worked together some years ago in Locarno Switzerland. She was then already involved in humanitarian activities with GICAM https://www.gicamfoundation.org/ and had been a member of several missions in Africa and in India. When I asked her if some general surgeon could be of some utility, Dr. Ravi Arole in Jamkhed https://www.crhpindia.org/ said “of course”.

He trusted Valentina that she would bring along only capable and open minded colleagues… This is how we started collecting funds for new general surgical instruments via this web-page. Finally in August and September 2023 we managed to buy the instruments directly from Indian producer https://ngsinstruments.com/ and have them shipped to Dr. Ravi.

It sounds simple, but it seems that Indian regulations are sometimes tricky and the producer could not accept a direct foreign bank payment without demonstrating that they shipped material to the respective foreign country… I think it must be a law against black money / criminal money recycling; this could make sense…

Finally we could travel to Jamkhed and operate on the patients selected by our Indian colleagues.
